A collection of crepe paper wildflowers
One of my favorite activities at the start of the year is picking out which seeds to order for my Mom and I to grow in the Spring. This mix is inspired by those seeds that are currently making their way into what will become this summer’s cutting garden. In the meantime, I too will enjoy these paper versions! (And luckily, the joy from these will last much, much longer!)

A painterly crepe paper dahlia stem
After growing about 30 dahlia plants over the past two summers, I finally sat down and replicated a few of my favorite models for this year’s collection. This variety (called a collarette dahlia) is a real show-stopper! With its unique colors and frilly layers, it deserves its very own home.

A vase full of crepe paper garden clippings
While I’m not a huge fan of the heat and humidity that summer brings here in Richmond, I am happy to enjoy the benefits they bring to my plants! Last summer my Boscobel, Munstead Wood, and Dahlia plants were all churning out blooms faster than I could clip them. The results were gorgeously rich bouquets of peachy-pinks and purplish-reds—all which I’ve replicated here for us to enjoy year-round.

Crepe Paper Peony Stem Bundle
This variety is the newest addition to my peony collection, thanks to another one of my Mom’s generous neighbors. I only got one bloom off my plant last year, but it was enough for me to study, document, and build a trusty prototype for my library. (Along with the many stems gifted over the years.) The striking yellow centers of these blooms add a bit of whimsy and cheer to any room, and I get a kick out of how they look with other, more studious blooms.
Since peonies morph into many beautiful shapes and styles during their rapid bloom cycle, I like to include stems depicting a wide range of these phases within every bundle.

Crepe paper peony stem bundle
Another personal favorite, I was introduced to this variety by a local florist and immediately fell in love (how appropriate!). These blooms unfurl with blush petals and bright pink accents and fade into a delicate pale pink that’s almost white.
Since peonies morph into many beautiful shapes and styles during their rapid bloom cycle, I like to include stems depicting a wide range of these phases within every bundle.

Crepe paper peony stem bundle
I based these pale blush peonies on the Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt variety, which are best known for their bounty of overlapping cupped petals and lush furled centers.
Since peonies morph into many beautiful shapes and styles during their rapid bloom cycle, I like to include stems depicting a wide range of these phases within every bundle.

Crepe paper peony stem bundle
I discovered this particular anemone-style peony only a few years ago, and it happened entirely by surprise! The bunch of bright pink buds I purchased at the market opened to reveal an unexpected center of tightly packed cream petals. Not at all what I expected, but what a treat! The Gay Paree quickly won me over, and now I’m adding it to my perennial collection for a bit of whimsy and unparalleled texture!

Crepe paper rose stem bundle
The Sahara rose is one of the more versatile options in my box of tricks, so I want to make it available for everyone to enjoy! Not just your average ivory rose, this ruffly bloom has a velvety blush center and soft green accents along its outer petals. I love them mixed with neutrals (as seen in these mixes), or with large bunches of greenery.

One of my favorite modern roses—the Free Spirit rose—is an everlasting sign of happiness. Gradually shifting from a warm apricot to a coral pink—no two blooms will ever be exactly alike. These roses are stunning in large groups or when mixed with softer and bold colors alike!

A bundle of crepe paper roses, anemone, and peony stems
I designed this combination for my very first Spring Collection in 2017, and it quickly became a fan favorite. Now, in its third iteration, I think it’s even better than ever with extra-detailed anemone, lush Sahara roses, and ultra-realistic peony buds.

Crepe Paper Potted Pilea Plant
